It’s no secret that I am drawn to the coast. One of the many attractive elements is the unbroken view of clouds above the water. In my obsession with clouds—and my efforts to sketch them and photograph them—I have accepted that a cloud is never still, is constantly reshaping itself, and rarely can be mistaken for another cloud on any another day. In that way, paintings of clouds are like portraits to me.
